That Anime Show EP 18, “Aaron Dismuke”

administrator | August 21, 2010 | COMMENTS:7 Comments »

Texas-born Aaron Dismuke started with a few small parts (in FRUITS BASKET and KIDDY GRADE), courtesy of his cousin, Funimation ADR director Justin Cook. But it wasn’t long before the budding voice actor showed real talent, and quickly catapulted to a critical leading role in FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST as Alphonse Elric . It’s a feat all the more impressive when you do the math and realize that he was only 11 years old when he started voicing Alphonse, and that he did most of that work while speaking into a big metal bowl. Aaron resumed the role for the movie FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: CONQUEROR OF SHAMBALLA, as well as several video games based on the series. Aaron (now 17 years old) can also be heard as Ion Fortuna in TRINITY BLOOD, young Ginko in MUSHI-SHI and Yasuchika in OURAN HIGH SCHOOL HOST CLUB.  Most recently, Aaron joined FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST- BROTHERHOOD as young Van Hohenhiem and plays Ouri Kagami in SHIKABANE HIME.

I dunno. I’m pretty ecxetid that anime is being given a chance like this (I don’t have a TV during term time, so I won’t be able to enjoy it myself), but there have been precedents in the past and they’ve never amounted to much success. Off-hand I can think of Sci-Fi having a sort of morning variety show that broadcast anime like Evangelion (and had Johnathon Clements appear in various features, too), as well as showing more adult series and film in the evenings. It just fizzled out due to poor ratings etc. But still, this was maybe three or four years ago. Anime in the UK definitely seems to have a stronger footing in the mainstream these days. Maybe enough to sustain a dedicated channel segment like this. I hope so; I’d love to see Escaflowne on British TV again. It’s one of my weirdest childhood memories seeing it on Fox Kids all those years ago

Technically, Aaron’s zombie plan would fail. Clearly seen in the movie by George A. Romero, ‘Land of the Dead’, the zombies can walk underwater… just saying. 🙂

for anyone who reads this i went to the same school as Aaron Dismuke, i kinda had a crush on him,so if Terri or Tatum reads this i would like them to tell Aaron about this. i went to pashcal high school in fort worth and i didn’t ever meet him there, i just saw him from afar, i had plenty of friends that did meet him,it made me kind of jealous, but it was my fault that i did’nt even try to, i could have met him but i was too afraid and shy to, i was a new student there and i was excited that he was there too but as a fan i wanted to respect him by not going all fan crazy on him,i kinda regret not having the courage to go up to him and just say hi but at least maybe i could’ve got a shout out to him,so this is what i wanted to say – “i love you, Aaron Dismuke, you inspired me to want to become a voice actor,i hope everything goes good for you in the future and i hope one day i can get my dream job.” -which is voice acting and to all the other beautiful voices that are out there, that includes you Mr. J.Michale Tatum, i love you and i’ll keep you in my prayers. sincerely, kimberly
